1. Restart your modem and router

   Unplug both for 60 seconds. Plug in the modem first and wait until its lights are steady, then plug in the router.

   Most providers show outages for your address in their app or account page, and many can restart your modem from there.

3. Test with a cable

   Plug a computer into the router with a network cable. If that works, the problem is your Wi-Fi, not the internet line.

4. Check cables and lights

   Make sure the coax, fiber or phone cable is tight. A red or blinking light on the modem usually means no signal from the provider.

5. Contact your provider

   Use the number on your bill or the official app. Never call numbers posted in comments or search ads.
