Accessibility
Everyone should be able to find out whether a service is down. We build the site to work with a keyboard, screen readers and large text, and we say openly where it falls short.

What we do
- Keyboard. Every link, button and form works with the keyboard, the focus is always visible, and a "Skip to content" link is the first thing on each page.
- Color is never the only signal. Each status has an icon and a written label, such as "Problems detected", next to its color.
- Charts in words. The reports chart comes with a text summary of the last hour and the last 24 hours, and the map comes with a list of the cities with the most reports.
- Screen readers. Pages use headings and landmarks, images have text alternatives, and messages after you send a comment or a contact form are announced.
- Zoom and small screens. Pages reflow to one column when you zoom in or use a phone, without scrolling sideways.
- Less motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, we turn off animations and smooth scrolling.
- Works without JavaScript. The status, the numbers and the text are in the page itself; scripts add the interactive chart and map.
Known limits
- The interactive chart and map are visual. Their information is also in the text summary and city list, but not every detail, such as single hours on the 7-day chart.
- Ads come from Google and partners, and we cannot fully control how accessible they are. They are labelled and kept in their own boxes.
- Comments are written by visitors and may contain images or text without descriptions.
- There is no dark mode yet.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We check new pages with a keyboard, a screen reader and automated tools, but we have not had an independent audit, so we do not claim full conformance.
Tell us about a problem
If something on the site is hard or impossible to use for you, please tell us what you were trying to do, the page address and the browser or assistive technology you use, through the contact form. We read every message and aim to reply within a few working days.
