- Check the error code on a 429
A 429 can mean you are sending requests too fast, ran out of prepaid credits or hit a spend limit. The error code in the response tells you which.
- Add credits on credit_balance_exhausted
This 429 means your organization has no prepaid credits left. Retrying will not help; add credits in billing first.
- Follow Retry-After when rate limited
'Rate limit reached for requests' means requests are too fast. Pace them and wait at least as long as the Retry-After header says.
- Check the key and IP allowlist on a 401
A 401 means a wrong API key, the wrong organization, or a request from an IP that is not on your project's allowlist.
